Earlier this year I attended the Windy City Pulp and Paper Show in Chicago, Illinois. My friend and I flew out a few days in advance and went on a tour of a number of museums throughout the state of Illinois, including the town of Metropolis, promoted as the home of Superman. In the center of town there is an 18-foot tall statue of Superman which tourists gleefully pose for photographs. There is also a museum with thousands of collectibles, movie props and celebrity autographs. Every year the town celebrates a convention where thousands flock to meet actors who appeared in the Superman movies and TV shows, participate in costume contests, and more. Naturally, we stopped by to have our photo taken with the Superman statue and then went on a tour through the museum. The museum has no restrictions for photographs, so the link below is a PDF containing hundreds of photographs from the museum exhibits. If you are ever in the area, I recommend you take a detour and visit the statue and museum. For those who cannot make it to Metropolis, Illinois, enjoy the tour!
